[ Been a while since Rin herself has made a call, but in all honesty why would she when she can just ask (read: bully) others into speaking for her. That way she doesn't have to deal with a bunch of no-names hassling her for the answers of every little question, but today? Today should be a day for the people of Haven to celebrate and if not, well she tried and therefore no one could say she didn't. ]

Hey, so you remember Jennifer's call about the date nearly a week ago? She said it was February 8th then so you know that today is February 14th, which you know is a holiday in some countries in the world a lot of us are somewhat familiar with. How it's celebrated really isn't all that important, but it's a holiday designated for love--[ The word is spoken in the only form a tsundere can say it in. ]--so I was honestly expecting this thing here to buzz with a billion love confessions.

[ But enough about her poor love life. ]

As a sign of gratitude for reminding you of the holiday, I'd like to hear your opinions on Miss Beth Yao. A number of you have met her and have been told things about her, haven't you? Consider me curious as to your opinions on her. [ A rare, once in a lifetime opportunity for Rin to give a damn about someone's opinion. Grasp it while you can. ] Surely you have to have something in mind after all we've gone through, right? Well, let's hear it. I don't really have all day to sit around waiting on this stupid phone to entertain me, so be prompt with your replies.

[ For those who do know her, a new scar can be seen creeping out from her turtleneck sweater along her neck. She's done her best to cover it up by wearing this outfit of choice, but maybe she underestimates the phone's camera or just doesn't seem to care about it. ]

That we were residents from the Rehousing Scheme Compound. [ Quietly after: ] Have you heard of it?

[evocalize]

[He speaks more quietly in response.] Never heard of it. Rehousing Scheme Compound- then she thinks we're citizens? [Or perhaps refugees, but he'll hold back on that for now.]

[gandere]

That's right. [ A nod to reaffirm the thought even though she just spoke it out loud. ] She's unaware to our suffering which means we shouldn't really outright attack her.

Though the people who watch over her keep her from discovering the truth. Had we said anything...

[evocalize]

...it would have been bad. [Oh, he knows it could be worse than 'bad' but why say that they both know what he means?] When did you meet her? I know that there was a plan to kill her a few months ago, but not much of anything else.

[gandere]

Just a few weeks ago.

[ She's not sure if she should advertise that she helped her escape to someone who tends to be as open minded as himself. He may scold her or he may insist that others do the same in the future in hopes of repeating the results. ]

She had agreed to speak with me before, but I suppose she needed her health to sort itself out before we could talk with her.

[evocalize]

'We'? [Probably the person named Jennifer based on what Rin said, but he might as well confirm it.] Before this...so you must have met her back when she wasn't healthy. How bad was it?

[gandere]

I mentioned Jennifer earlier, didn't I? [ There's his confirmation. ] She wasn't with me when I first met her, but she called for us both there.

I'm not sure whether or not she was unhealthy. She seems to be all right, but I'll admit I wasn't really staring for signs of poor health. Whatever ails her isn't all that visible.

[evocalize]

[So Beth met both Jennifer and Rin a few months back and they were later summoned by her, unable to say anything about their true situation. He makes a note of it in case Beth ever shows up again; that will be useful to know.]

Mmm. My group also found out that Kite was experimenting with combining animal and children DNA. The person that found out mentioned that those animals had regenerative abilities, so it might have something to do with her condition. [Minato's distaste is fairly evident by his slight frown; no one should be live longer at the expense of others, regardless of their importance.]

[gandere]

Animal and children DNA... huh, I can't exactly figure out why that is. Is it because children have growth spurts and some animals have the ability to regenerate limbs? Doubtful, but I suppose it's a theory we can talk about among ourselves for a while.

[evocalize]

The report mentioned snakes too...it also mentioned that the children brought in were about 8 to 12 years old, so combining them might have had a greater effect than using either one on its own. [Ugh, now he just sounds disgusted.] How do you feel about it, Tohsaka-san?

[gandere]

[ The report? That's right, he said that they had discovered something, but she wasn't aware that it was something like that. ]

I admit I don't know much about that sort of thing, but hearing about it makes me sick to my stomach. That's not something you do to children.

--but it makes no sense.

If he just used children, why are there so many adults here?

[evocalize]

It's not something that should be done to anyone. [Pause.] Beast Boy-san mentioned that Kite was doing research on our powers and that he might be able to use them...that's probably why we're here. They want our powers for something else. [World conquest, maybe? He did mention something about worlds being destroyed too, after all.]

[gandere]

And what of the people who have no powers?

[ Rin asks the next obvious question. ] There have been people from different points of time and worlds. Some without any supernatural ability. I had an ally here who was a gladiator and while he was strong, it was a strength that any man who endured what he did would be able to acquire on their own.

It's not something that can be easily taken away.

[evocalize]

I'm not sure. [He's had friends without powers too: Hori, who has since been returned, Miyamura and Ishikawa too...] But even if they don't have anything to be taken away, it's safe to say that they serve some purpose. [Brief pause; the next bit would have been more uncomfortable to think of, if not for the fact that everyone was about equal here more or less.] The people who used to live here had no powers too.

[gandere]

Is that so...

[ What was the relation between the past residents of Haven and the powerless ones that have been abducted now? ]

I'm... thinking over something before. No one has been given powers in this place before, have they? It's difficult for me to keep up with everyone since I dislike this stupid phone, but maybe you've heard about it from someone else?

[evocalize]

I haven't heard of anyone being given powers, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. ['Never' was after all too strong a word to be applied to a company that had already broken so many absolutes.] I could ask Alphonse-san about it since he's been here from the beginning.

[gandere]

He has been here a long time, hasn't he?

[ Rin seems to be thinking the same thing. ] Might be best to find out what he does know. I've been told people can lose their memories of this place so the more who know these details, the better.

[evocalize]

Since the beginning, he said. That's probably the reason why he made that book too, since anything could happen to us. [Pause.] Who told you about that?

[gandere]

Morgan. [ She has no qualms about spreading this information even if it was meant to be private. ] Have you met her?

She told me that Kite took away her memories and could do it at any given time. It's a threat we need to be aware of.

[evocalize]

[That bit about Morgan reminds Minato of the encounter they had in the hospital. Was that what happened to her?]

She's a friend of mine. They've also been able to brainwash people completely, so it's important that everything we know gets recorded somewhere, at least- there's the danger of being noticed but it's a chance we'll have to take.

[gandere]

Yeah... but we should still make sure the information is well spread or else someone might be caught off-guard. Someone who we might not want to be caught off-guard, that is.

[evocalize]

Wouldn't that be everyone? Some people might have access to more important information, but not everyone talks about what they've learned unless they're asked to.

[gandere]

There's no telling who knows what and how much of it is the truth. In short, I suppose gathering knowledge and spreading it is no better than gossip at this point in our captivity.

... What a pain.

[evocalize]

It's still better than nothing. [But judging by the very slightly exasperated look on his face he must be conceding that she has a good point.] Some of those information should be more reliable than others, but we'll need to look through it carefully.

[gandere]

And there's no way to really do that without risking the spread of misinformation. At most, we can act clueless to gather opinions, but that would make us look as if we're idiots for not paying attention in the first place.

[ So that's not a thing she'll do at least. ]
