ᴠɪᴅᴇᴏ.
[ Been a while since Rin herself has made a call, but in all honesty why would she when she can just ask (read: bully) others into speaking for her. That way she doesn't have to deal with a bunch of no-names hassling her for the answers of every little question, but today? Today should be a day for the people of Haven to celebrate and if not, well she tried and therefore no one could say she didn't. ]
Hey, so you remember Jennifer's call about the date nearly a week ago? She said it was February 8th then so you know that today is February 14th, which you know is a holiday in some countries in the world a lot of us are somewhat familiar with. How it's celebrated really isn't all that important, but it's a holiday designated for love--[ The word is spoken in the only form a tsundere can say it in. ]--so I was honestly expecting this thing here to buzz with a billion love confessions.
[ But enough about her poor love life. ]
As a sign of gratitude for reminding you of the holiday, I'd like to hear your opinions on Miss Beth Yao. A number of you have met her and have been told things about her, haven't you? Consider me curious as to your opinions on her. [ A rare, once in a lifetime opportunity for Rin to give a damn about someone's opinion. Grasp it while you can. ] Surely you have to have something in mind after all we've gone through, right? Well, let's hear it. I don't really have all day to sit around waiting on this stupid phone to entertain me, so be prompt with your replies.
[ For those who do know her, a new scar can be seen creeping out from her turtleneck sweater along her neck. She's done her best to cover it up by wearing this outfit of choice, but maybe she underestimates the phone's camera or just doesn't seem to care about it. ]

Then again, it isn't like there's much chocolate to give out here.
[...N-not that Shino would have planned to give out chocolates to anyone anyway. You know how it is.]
I don't know very much about Beth Yao either. Is there any chance you could share what you find out?
no subject
I'm sure if someone is persistent they could find or bake some. [ Which is to say if there's a will, there's a way. ] Could anyone tell the difference between imitation chocolate and the real thing when it's been months since they've had either?
Oh, but I'm directing the topic away from your question. Are you interested in investigating this matter or do you intend to use this information to kill her first chance you get? I'm only asking to make sure you'll be all right in the end. It'd be a bummer if I had someone's blood on my hands because they foolishly went after someone because I gave them an idea.
no subject
[She may or may not be convincing herself that it's okay for her to not have done anything to celebrate, here.]
...As for Beth Yao, I'm investigating until I can come to a decision. I'm not afraid to kill if it means surviving, but if it's possible, I don't want it to come to that.
no subject
[ Shaking her head. ] Investigating matters is nice and all, but sometimes people need a break from the reality of the grim situation we're in. A little fun wouldn't hurt.
no subject
[Ethics aside, something like that could seriously backfire if they weren't careful...]
It's not like I plan to stop others from celebrating if they want to.
no subject
We're not animals so behaving desperately as if we are is pointless.
no subject
Even if it isn't me, there are those here who might follow that line of action.
no subject
They can join the rest of the monsters here in the tunnels or wherever it is they roam now.
no subject
In the heat of the moment, it's not like there's a lot of time to look at the situation. It might be out of desperation, but it's instinct to want to live. Of course you'll do what it takes to survive.
Whether or not we kill Beth is a choice that can't be made lightly, and I don't plan to act unless we can make certain her death would actually save us. That's my choice now, as a person who isn't about to die.
[Because that's what changes everything; what inspires a young girl to wrestle a gun from a grown man and shoot...]
But if we're about to be wiped out entirely because we've outlived our usefulness, I won't hesitate to strike back, either. Because at that point, with nothing to lose, I'd rather fight back than go to my death quietly.
no subject
When faced with extermination or not, anyone would fight back. That much is true and should that day come, you won't see me telling people to stop. What I will get in the way of is when there's an angry mob with a target we can't be completely sure of as being the right target. That's why I'll contest that we can't outright kill her until we've seen some proof.
--But do you think the death of a single person can save everyone else here, yourself included? Do you think being saved is worth the guilt of taking something so precious even though they've done nothing to hurt you specifically? That's what I can't wrap my head around.
no subject
[She may not approve of it, but that is how it is.]
...It's not something I would take any pleasure in. But if it definitely meant saving myself and the people who are important to me, I would do it.
[Even if it continued to haunt her for the rest of her days - she would shoulder that burden herself if it came down to it.]
no subject
[ By assuming that everyone comes from worlds identical to her own, as has been the case for most of her interactions, she's looked the fool by insinuating there was justice that kept these acts from being carried out. ]
Are you experienced in this matter, miss?
no subject
I wouldn't say I'm experienced. But I've had to make that decision once before I ever came to Haven.
[Not that there had been any hesitation in the slightest. If it meant preserving the lives of herself, her mother--
It was only natural she would do whatever it took to stop that man, even if it meant staining her own hands with blood.]
