[The man on the screen looks banged up and bruised--and, quite frankly, like hell. He just seems exhausted and bemused, not panicking like he probably should be. He'd left the apartment to do a bit of exploring then came back, entirely too exhausted and injured to do much else, but he's got a vague idea of where he is now. Right.]

Yes, hi. Hello? Is this like a Nokia?

[He leans back on the bed he's sitting on.] So I get it. Deserted town. Spooky. I'm past it. It's time to move forward. [He waves his hands vaguely.] I need parts. Durable and solid enough to deal with sustained flight-- You know what, I'll work out the details. I can salvage just about anything, so don't be shy.

And-- [Pause.] Really, is this it? Just this thing? [A bit of shaky cam as he examines the communication device again.] I guess with a few tweaks it'll function on a less...archaic level... So-- Look, am I alone? Am I talking to myself here? I know I'm fantastic to look at, but I'd love some sign of intelligent life here.

If you're having an issue it was probably intentional on the part of our captors and under those circumstances I find it unlikely that they'll have left you in a position to fix whatever it is you're unwilling to outright tell me about.

Same story as everyone else, I'm sure. My apologies, but regardless of whether you get this mystery hardware restored or not, I'm putting my money on the idea that it'd get you nowhere. There's some kind of barrier keeping us all in and if anyone's capable of flight? I'm pretty sure they would have accounted for that.
